SEND Day 2 Conference: A Day of Inspiration and Impact!

What an incredible day!

On Wednesday, in partnership with Hull City Council, we welcomed 110 passionate delegates to Day 2 of our SEND Conference, dedicated to shaping the curriculum for pupils with severe learning difficulties.

The day kicked off with a warm welcome from Rachel Wilkes, our CEO, and Berni Moorcroft, our Strategic Special School Improvement Lead. They set the tone by revisiting the Fundamentals of Learning and Curriculum Stages for English and Maths, laying a strong foundation for the session ahead.

Our workshops were the heart of the day, led by our very talented team – Andrea Powell, Sarah Grindley, Vicky McGuire and Helen Robinson. From developing interaction and engagement, developing attention and engagement in early learning to developing early literacy and numeracy, these workshops were packed with practical strategies, live modelling and even a few songs! A huge thank you to the whole team for making these workshops so visual, insightful and impactful.

Delegates rotated through every workshop, taking part in hands-on activities and lively discussions as you can see in our video on our LinkedIn page. Networking buzzed throughout the day, creating valuable connections and sharing best practice. And as if the day wasn’t memorable enough, we even had snow falling down on the pitch at lunchtime!

The excellent feedback says it all:

“Fantastic CPD which has greatly enhanced my understanding and knowledge around effective SEND provision.”

“My most valuable takeaway from the conference was everything – there isn’t one thing that I won’t take away from today!”

We’re grateful to Hull City Council for subsidising the venue and refreshments, and to our amazing staff and helpers who kept everything running smoothly. Special thanks also goes to MKM Stadium for their outstanding hospitality.

Due to overwhelming demand, we’re thrilled to announce a re-run of this event in February for colleagues who missed out.

Thank you to everyone who made this day so memorable – together, we’re making a real difference. Where everybody counts, every moment matters.
