Bringing Books to Life in Brilliant Ways!

What joy!

It was an absolute joy to see our schools celebrating World Book Day in such creative and exciting ways. The smiles on the children’s faces says everything!

Each school planned a jam-packed agenda, full of activities that brought stories to life and celebrated our shared love of reading. Across our Trust, children and staff enjoyed:

• Dressing up as their favourite book characters
• Joining BBC Live Lessons and taking part in World Book Day quizzes
• Sharing and listening to stories together (with biscuits, of course!)
• Writing and presenting their own book reviews
• Creating imaginative entries for 'Book in a Box' competitions
• Completing word and reading scavenger hunts
• Joining a live call with Author Michael Holland
• Listening to Learning Ambassadors reading stories aloud in classrooms
• Making bookmarks, newspaper reports and matchbook chapter summaries
• Celebrating our fantastic reading volunteers
• Taking part in book character fashion shows
• Creating and sharing PowerPoints about the importance of reading
• Building cosy reading dens to enjoy stories together

This work links closely with our National Year of Reading 2026 celebrations and our shared objective to create high-quality, thoughtfully planned experiences that spark joy and build lasting memories.

A huge thank you to our schools for doing such a wonderful job and for being excellent role models. It certainly looked like the staff enjoyed the day just as much as the children!
