Celebrating Our Inaugural Pupil Eco Summit!

Our Promise to the Planet – Looking after our world, today and tomorrow

We are incredibly proud to have hosted our very first Pupil Eco Summit yesterday and what a fantastic day it was!

It was a pleasure to welcome pupils from across all 17 of our schools, coming together for a day filled with learning, collaboration and the sharing of best practice. United by our commitment of “Our Promise to the Planet – Looking after our world, today and tomorrow”, our young people demonstrated that they are ready to lead the way in creating a more sustainable future.

The day began with a warm and inspiring welcome from our CEO, Rachel Wilkes, setting the tone for a friendly, fun and purposeful event. Throughout the day, every school delivered presentations on a wide range of important topics, including:

  • Energy and emissions
  • Recycling and waste
  • Active travel (WOW and Strider schemes)
  • Gardening and nature
  • The wider environment and transport

Each presentation was thoughtful, creative and motivating. All pupils represented their school and the trust with confidence and enthusiasm, making a wonderful contribution to the event.

We were also delighted to welcome North Yorkshire Catering, who led an engaging and interactive session on sustainable food, an experience our pupils thoroughly enjoyed.

The afternoon featured an engaging session with Richard Berry from Let’s Go Zero, who continues to work so positively with our school communities. We then rounded off the day with a fantastic pitch side group photo at the MKM Stadium!

We extend a huge thank you to:

  • North Yorkshire Catering for their session, merchandise and delicious lunch
  • Richard Berry for his continued support and enthusiasm
  • The Tigers Trust for providing such a brilliant venue with an incredible pitch view

And most importantly… To our staff and pupils: your voice matters, and your actions inspire change. We are so proud of you!

Thank you to everyone who made the day possible and what a perfect achievement to celebrate on World Environment Day - video to follow!
