Transforming a local space into a wildlife mural

The children at Woodland Primary School have played a key role in assisting with this project with other local schools.

An area of the Holderness Drain is the focus of a major revitalisation effort as part of Hull's Dynamic Drains nature project involving the Environment Agency, Groundwork Yorkshire, Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and Hull City Council, with support from artist Mike Sprout.

The children at Woodland Primary School have played a key role in assisting with this project alongside other local schools. The children have helped to decorate an electricity substation that now brightens up the landscape. The children’s hard work and creativity recently caught the attention of BBC Radio Humberside and BBC News; you can read and hear more about the project here:

This is a really positive, inspiring step forward for both nature and the local community. The designs are stunning and the children from Woodland Primary School loved contributing to the designs you can see. There’s even hope that a water vole might soon be spotted!

A job very well done!
