Christopher Pickering Primary School is celebrating after achieving a 5-star rating in the Youth Sport Trust Well Schools Accreditation programme – the highest level of recognition available.

This outstanding achievement reflects the school's commitment to promoting the health, wellbeing and happiness of both pupils and staff. The 5-star accreditation recognises schools where wellbeing is embedded throughout every aspect of school life, influencing leadership, decision-making, teaching and learning and the wider school culture.

The Youth Sport Trust's Well Schools framework is a nationally recognised whole-school approach that places physical and mental wellbeing at the centre of school improvement. The programme supports schools in creating positive environments that enhance attendance, behaviour, engagement and educational outcomes. As part of the rigorous accreditation process, schools undergo independent assessment and peer review across a range of wellbeing indicators. Achieving a 5-star rating signifies exemplary practice and demonstrates a sustained commitment to continuous improvement through wellbeing.
