Tweendykes School and Sixth Form Achieves National Science Quality Mark Award

Tweendykes School and Sixth Form is celebrating after achieving the prestigious Primary Science Quality Mark (PSQM) Gilt Award.
The nationally recognised award celebrates excellence in science leadership, curriculum design, teaching and learning, recognising the school's commitment to providing high-quality, inclusive science education for all learners.
This outstanding achievement reflects Tweendykes' dedication to ensuring that every pupil can engage with, enjoy and succeed in science. Through a carefully planned curriculum and a culture that nurtures curiosity and exploration, pupils are encouraged to develop their understanding of the world around them, build confidence and develop skills that will support them throughout their lives.
Led by the University of Hertfordshire, the Primary Science Quality Mark has spent more than a decade supporting schools to strengthen science education and raise its profile. The programme equips science leaders with the knowledge, confidence and specialist support needed to drive sustainable improvements in teaching and learning, ultimately helping more children access the opportunities that a strong science education can provide.
Helen Sizer, PSQM Director, said:
"The Primary Science Quality Mark (PSQM) recognises a school's commitment to developing and strengthening science education, celebrating the positive impact this has on children's learning and understanding of the world around them.
Our congratulations go to the whole school community on this achievement and particularly to the school's science subject leader, who has led this process through participation in the PSQM professional learning programme and by driving a cycle of reflection, development and improvement across the school. Their leadership helps to ensure that all children benefit from high-quality science teaching and learning.
Everyone involved should be very proud of the positive difference they are making to children's learning and of their commitment to continuous improvement in primary science education."
Yvonne Briggs, Headteacher at Tweendykes School and Sixth Form, shared her delight at the achievement:
"Achieving the Primary Science Quality Mark Gilt Award is a fantastic accomplishment for our entire school community and a reflection of our steadfast commitment to providing meaningful, engaging and inclusive learning experiences for every pupil in our care. At Tweendykes, we believe science provides a powerful way for our young people to explore the world around them, solve problems and celebrate their achievements, whatever their starting point.
This award recognises the dedication, creativity and expertise of our staff, the enthusiasm of our pupils and the support of our families. We are especially proud of our Science Team, Sarah Nichol and Jemma Mepstead, whose passion and leadership have driven improvements across the curriculum and helped ensure our learners experience science in ways that inspire curiosity, discovery and a lifelong love of learning."
