Led by staff from Hull Music Service, the East Hull Brass Project provides an enriching opportunity for primary-aged brass players to develop their skills, build confidence and experience the enjoyment of performing as part of an ensemble. The initiative supports children to work collaboratively with peers from different schools while fostering a lifelong appreciation of music.

Half-termly rehearsals were held throughout the academic year, beginning at Maybury Primary School during the autumn term before moving to Alderman Cogan Primary School in the spring term. The project culminated in a final rehearsal at the Freedom Centre, followed by a short performance for parents and carers, showcasing the impressive progress pupils had made over the course of the year.

The final session welcomed 52 pupils from six east Hull primary schools, including four Humber Education Trust schools. Children from Highlands Primary School, Maybury Primary School, Neasden Primary School and Woodland Primary School joined pupils from Alderman Cogan Primary School and Marfleet Primary School for a memorable celebration of musical achievement. The event highlighted not only the children's growing musical talents but also the importance of teamwork, commitment and collaboration. It was a fitting finale to a successful year, with pupils demonstrating the confidence and skills they had developed through the project. The afternoon concluded on a fun note, with some enthusiastic limbo dancing adding to the celebrations!

The East Hull Brass Project is a fantastic example of the impact that partnership working can have in creating meaningful enrichment opportunities for children, enabling them to learn, perform and succeed together.
