On Friday 26 June, pupils from 12 primary schools across Humber Education Trust came together at the Tigers Trust Arena in Hull for the second Mainstream Primary Football Tournament. The venue was filled with excitement as teams proudly represented their schools, demonstrating enthusiasm, determination and a love of the game from the first whistle to the last.

The event attracted a fantastic turnout of parents, carers and supporters, who cheered on the players throughout the afternoon. Teams first competed in a round-robin stage, ensuring every school had the opportunity to showcase their skills before the top four teams progressed to the semi-finals.

While the competition was closely contested, the tournament was played in a spirit of friendship, teamwork and respect. Following a thrilling final, Kingswood Parks Primary School were crowned champions. Neasden Primary School claimed a hard-fought second place, with Clifton Primary School securing third after an impressive performance throughout the tournament.

The event also provided an opportunity to celebrate individual achievements. Charlotte from Woodland Primary School received the Sporting Values Award, having been nominated by teachers for consistently demonstrating outstanding sportsmanship, positivity and respect both on and off the pitch. In recognition of her achievement, she was presented with a football. Meanwhile, Oliver from Kingswood Parks Primary School was named Player of the Match after a standout performance that impressed spectators and organisers alike. He was delighted to receive a football to mark his accomplishment. Both award winners were all smiles as they collected their prizes, bringing a fitting end to an afternoon that perfectly showcased the talent, teamwork and inclusive spirit of Humber Education Trust pupils.

Event organiser, Sam Morgan, expressed his gratitude to everyone who contributed:

“What made the day so special wasn’t just the football, it was seeing children from across our Trust coming together, supporting one another and enjoying being part of a shared experience. The teamwork, respect and enthusiasm on display were fantastic and everyone should be incredibly proud of their achievements.”

From spectacular goals to outstanding sportsmanship, it was an afternoon to remember. The winning team from Kingswood Parks Primary School even marked their success with a bus-tour-style celebration on their return to school!
